Yeah, I can't say im too fond of the current direction they're going in. I hope it gets better from here, but I feel like the colors are honestly the biggest gripe with me. All of them are too saturated and just remind me of "soft/rubbery plastic baby toys" and even with the ones I DO like, there isn't a single one that I feel like wouldn't benefit from having their colors be altered with slightly. It's also frustrating to see pets that are clearly inspired by old ones but with uglier colors (+one of the new symbols) like the red and gray wolf cat and the light pink otter and it makes me wish they just used the same design instead of altering it to be more unique because all of them end up just looking like slightly worse versions of the old ones imo. I hope future releases make them more natural or more creative because most of these feel extremely uninspired and lazy (I hate the ones that are different shades of 1 color and have one of the new symbols on it those are the worst theyre so lazy) especially considering how "colored in mouths" are not a consistent aspect of these figures. Also their pupils are still slightly too big. I feel like they still have gen 6's "GIANT PUPILS = CUTE" mentality that made them look kind of soulless. (like the color of the eye is barely visible) and I LIKE the "personality pupils" thing but they use them on the same few molds so that aspect becomes repetitive and improperly utilized


Also, beyond the worst aspect being the coloring- I also feel like their pet mold choices missed a lot of opportunities. This first batch lacks a lot of the iconic pet molds I feel like identified LPS like the Persian or the generic shorthair cat. I'm glad they gave attention to some of the under-utilized molds like the wolf or the Pomeranian but I feel like there are some recolors or even molds that could have waited until a later release to be used compared to ones that would likely be better choices to capture lps-fans attention (Like did we need a remake of that ONE cute but weird hamster mold? or like 3 dolphins!?!!). I feel like the more down-to-earth theme of them being "pets" was lost with this initial release and they opted for something just generically animal or character themed like the last few gens leaned towards. I hope they introduce more pets later, this first one didn't have enough cats or bunnies for my liking



Also my last add on is that these also FEEL different- they're a much softer, rubbery feeling plastic (but aren't squishy/bendable at all) compared to the solid hard plastic of regular lps im used to and it kind of reinforces the "baby toy" feel I got from them. I don't feel too strongly about it cause there's no way that's changing and its not that terrible but It's something that wasn't maintained in the remake either.

Despite all my complaints I'm still willing to get a few I just hope that they get tired of the colorful designs by the time they make any more (and also that they stop being so scared to use tacky color matches...I like the anteater in that pic despite it being the 1-color 1-symbol figure but the color balance is boring as heck!!!!!!!) - I am appreciative that they finally listened and brought back the old molds I just hope that the next lines they make are better than the first one.
