This is a general discussion about redesigns that you dislike/hate. I’m somewhat picky when it comes to redesigns personally, and there are a few redesigns I’ve encountered that have made me quite mad.
Note: This Thread will contain slight spoilers for the following: the Upside Down Magic Series (Books). If you do not want spoilers, there will be an optional spoiler part detailing plot points in specific from certain books. I’ve only gone up to the 5th book (The one revolving around the kid who has weather all around her and some insight into the world) and missed a couple in between, so all plot points detailed will be brought up from the ones I’ve read (1,4,5). If you are fine with spoilers, the show spoilers button will be there.
First off, I’d like to talk about a book to movie adaptation that really isn’t the greatest interpretation of the literature, if you can even call it an interpretation. This would be Upside Down Magic’s transition from being a book series into a movie. To give you context, let me take a small bit of plot points from the books I read of the series to give you an idea of the books.
I’m personally not going to bother with Book 5, as I don’t remember it being released at the time the movie was.
The movie was a train wreck of an adaptation. You saw the plot lines? Throw them out. Slice of life? No, they’re fighting with dark magic now. Aunt Margo? I can hear the execs of the film laughing.
Anyways, I want to hear about the bad redesigns that made you mad. They can be book to movie adaptations, remakes of games, shows, or movies, or even a redesigned character made by the person who designed the OC. Just a reminder to be civil about it, as I don’t want this thread taken down.
Also, a note to any mods, I’m sorry if this is in the wrong category/shouldn’t have been made. I’m just wondering about people’s experiences with bad redesigns.

{Upside Down Magic Book 1}Nory is taken into a school’s unit for people with off-par magic from the 5 Fs. Due to this, she had to stay with her aunt Margo, who was entirely eradicated from the movie itself.

{Upside Down Magic Book 4}Nory is basically at a summer camp where she meets members of her father’s school, whilst we get an insight on how people find it cool yet dangerous to have Nory’s weird power. We see none of this in the movie, although I’m 90% sure the movie is only referring to the first book.
